The grapes come from vineyard of 90-100+ years old bush vines planted on slopes with clay and slate at 450-600 meters altitude.  It is so elegant and with wild fruits and subtle balsamic and mineral hints.
Old vines provides the complexity for this wine, also thanks for the 14 months ageing in French oak barrels.  Pleasant and fresh finish is what you need when having a feast with family and friends.

This is the main red variety of the Berciano vineyard. Its characteristics range from herbal and floral notes to wines with an enormous fruit load and marked mineral character. In our different wines you can see the different properties.

ALTITUDE: 450 to 600 meters.

In El Bierzo, the altitude largely determines the characteristics of the varieties. The great valley of Bierzo and its lateral valleys offer us multiple possibilities to work with the same variety. From floral wines to concentrated and mineral wines.

HARVEST: Manual.

Being an old and very old vineyard, the usual conduction of the vine is what we call the glass. For this reason, our harvests are made entirely by hand, without a machine, in order to ensure the highest quality of the grape.

PREPARATION: 
Cold maceration during 3-5 days. Whold bunch fermentation with 25% of stems in concrete tanks for 25 days with gentle sprinklings (light showering instead of the usual pumping-overs) and then another 14 days for the malolactic fermentation. Ageing of 14 months in French oak barrels. Drink over the next 10 years.
TASTING NOTES:

Attractive cherry-red colour. Elegant wild fruit aromas together with undergrowth notes as well as subtle balsamic and mineral hints. Velvety and creamy, but surprisingly lively. Round and well balanced with an intense earthy and mineral character. Pleasant and fresh finish.
